Barracks on Laxön
In the 1880s, Svea Ingenjörregemente (Svealand Engineer Regiment) chose Laxön island as their camp for their summer exercises. The barracks, officers’ mess and canteen they built are still here, and give the island its unique character.
Today they are a youth hostel, restaurant and café. There are also artists’ studios, craft shop and tourist office.
